Hamburgers Rancheros

Yield:
Serves 4

Loads of flavor packed into every bite!

Ingredients:

  1. 8 slices bacon
  2. 1 can (8 ounces) tomato sauce
  3. 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
  4. 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  5. 2 tablespoons instant minced onion or fresh minced onion
  6. salt and pepper to taste
  7. 10 green olives, pitted and diced
  8. 1 1/2 pounds ground beef
  9. 4 slices cheddar cheese
  10. 4 hamburger buns, toasted
  11. pickled red onion
  12. 1 large sweet onion, sliced into thick rings
  13. curly lettuce
  14. ketchup, optional
  15. mustard, optional
Directions:

Cook bacon, absorb excess grease with paper towels and set aside.

Slice sweet onion into thick rings and set aside.

In a small bowl, stir together tomato sauce, olives, chili powder, garlic powder, minced onion, salt and pepper.

Combine mixture with ground beef and form into 4 patties.

Grill or broil patties to desired temperature adding a slice of cheese to each during the last minute. During last 5 minutes, add sweet onion slices to the grill grate and brown on both sides.

Assemble burgers starting with the bottom bun, lettuce, grilled onion, cheese covered burger pattie, lettuce, pickled onion, bacon, and top bun.
