Mulled Cider

Yield:
Makes 6 servings

Ingredients:

  1. 4 cups fresh apple cider
  2. 1/3 cup packed light brown sugar
  3. 1 cinnamon stick
  4. 4 whole cloves
  5. 1 star anise
  6. 1/2 teaspoon peeled and sliced fresh ginger root
  7. 1 stalk lemon grass, sliced, or 1 sliced lemon
  8. 1/2 bay leaf
Directions:

In a medium saucepan, combine all the ingredients. Place over medium heat and stir until the sugar dissolves. Bring to a boil, reduce the heat and simmer, covered, for 10 minutes. Strain the mixture, discarding solids, and serve.
