  3. 1/2 cup packed dark brown sugar
  4. 1 egg
  5. 2 egg whites
  6. 1/2 cup applesauce
  7. 1 cup chopped dry figs
  8. 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  9. 1/2 cup whole wheat pastry flour, or whole wheat flour
  10. 3/4 teaspoon baking powder
  11. 3/4 teaspoon baking soda

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

In a medium bowl, combine dry ingredients (flour through salt). Add liquid ingredients to dry and blend until just combined. Spread batter in 9x13-inch baking dish lightly coated with cooking spray.

Bake 30 minutes or until light brown and springy to touch. Cool in pan for one hour.

Mix together icing ingredients, using more water if necessary to reach desired consistency. Spread cooled cake with icing and cut into bars.
