Savory Patty Melts on Grilled Rye

4 servings

Ingredients:

  1. 1 lb. ground beef
  2. 1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
  3. 2 teaspoons Dijon mustard
  4. 1/2 teaspoon salt
  5. 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  6. 4 slices Swiss cheese
  7. 8 slices rye bread
  8. 1/4 teaspoon dried thyme
  9. 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  10. Optional: grilled onion
Directions:

Mix all ingredients except cheese and bread. Shape mixture into 4 patties, refrigerate until grilling.

Grill patties for 12-15 minutes, turning once until done. Top patties with cheese.

Grill rye bread during last few minutes of grilling time to lightly toast. Place patties on bread, garnish if desired and cover with remaining slices of toasted rye bread.

Top with grilled onions if desired.
