Pan Fried Pork Sandwich with Caramelized Onions

Yield:
4 servings

Ingredients:

  1. 1 1/2 pounds cubed pork steaks*, cut into 4 portions
  2. 2 Tablespoons garlic pepper
  3. 1 Tablespoon butter
  4. 4 slices Swiss cheese
  5. 4 hamburger buns or sandwich buns
  6. Carmelized Onions:
  7. 4 cups yellow onions, thinly sliced
  8. 2 teaspoons butter
  9. 2 teaspoons olive oil
  10. 1 Tablespoon brown sugar
Directions:

Season pork on both sides with garlic pepper. Melt butter in large skillet; add pork and cook about 4 to 5 minutes on each side or until completely done and browned.

Serve on buns topped with caramelized onions and Swiss cheese.

Carmelized Onions:
Heat butter and oil in heavy, large skillet. Add onions and brown sugar. Cook slowly over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until onions are a rich golden brown, about 20 to 25 minutes.

Note:
*Cubed pork steak is made by pounding a pork cutlet with a meat tenderizer or a specialized cubing tenderizer. The result leaves cube-shaped indentations on the meat's surface and makes the meat more tender.
